Background
Era stato inizialmente pubblicato come terzo singolo promozionale di Delirium e BBC ha rivelato che Ellie avrebbe cantato la canzone ai bambini della BBC il 13 novembre 2015. [1]
Il singolo promozionale è stato pubblicato come un instant-grat il 30 ottobre 2015 una volta che avevi pre-ordinato l'album. L'audio della canzone è stato postato su VEVO, YouTube e Spotify nello stesso giorno. Una performance live del brano a Abbey Road Sessions è stata successivamente pubblicata su VEVO e YouTube[2]

La traccia ha raggiunto la posizione 20 sulle classifiche britanniche (Official Charts Company). La canzone è arrivata nella top 40 del Regno Unito a gennaio 2016. E dopo evidentemente è arrivata alla posizione numero 35. E' inizialmente debuttato alla posizione 81.
la canzone è arrivata alla posizione numero 13 sulle classifiche scozzesi (Official Charts Company), 55 sulle classifiche irlandesi (IRMA) e al numero 87 sulle classifiche australiane (ARIA).
Composizione
"Army" è più lento rispetto alla maggior parte delle canzoni di Goulding di Delirium.
"Army" ("Esercito") è anche come supporto per i fan: "When I'm with you, I'm standing with an army" ("Quando sono con te, sto in piedi con un esercito") nel coro 'Army' si riferisce ai suoi 'fan'.[3]
Performance
La canzone è stata cantata al BBC Children il 13 novembre 2015. [4] Ellie ha poi pubblicato un video di lei che canta agli Abbey Road Studios. [5] Ha cantato la canzone il 31 dicembre 2015 al "Top of the Pops" un programma di BBC One per celebrare il nuovo anno.
Il 9 febbraio 2016, Ellie ha cantato la canzone agli iTV's Lorraine e il giorno dopo l'ha cantata in Italia per il Festival di Sanremo 2016.
Remix
La canzone ha avuto due remix ufficiali che sono stati pubblicati sul canale VEVO di Ellie. Il primo è stato mixato da Mike Mago mentre il secondo è stato fatto da Danny Dove.
Questi remix sono stati successivamente inclusi nell'EP "Army" che è stato pubblicato il 29 gennaio 2016.
